The Comprehensive Wound Healing Center offers wound care that follows clinical practice guidelines.
- Diagnostic and ongoing assessments and treatment
- Hyperbaric oxygen therapy, which is the administration of 100% oxygen to the whole body in a pressurized environment
- Negative pressure wound therapy, which is the use of special dressings and units that apply negative pressure to wounds on a 24 hour per day basis
- Surgical wound debridements, which is the removal of devitalized tissue from a wound by a physician
- Total contact casting, which relieves pressure to foot wounds of diabetic patients
- Patient and family education about ongoing wound care
- Treatment of wound, skin and bone infections, including antibiotic therapy
- Wound cultures and biopsies to help determine the correct antibiotic therapy
- Compression therapy, which is using special wraps to help reduce and control edema (swelling) in the lower legs, helping wounds heal faster
- Bioengineered skin grafts/substitutes that are derived from human tissue are used in certain cases to speed up the healing time of wounds
