East Georgia Regional Medical Center Names Chief Executive Officer

STATESBORO, Ga. – V. Paul Theriot Jr. has been named Chief Executive Officer of East Georgia Regional Medical Center effective April 25.
Theriot comes to the hospital from Gadsden Regional Medical Center, a 346-bed hospital in Alabama, where he has served as chief operating officer for nearly five years. He provided operational leadership for all areas of the hospital and had direct responsibility for various ancillary and clinical departments. He also provided oversight for more than 30 capital and construction projects, including coordination with state authorities for Certificate of Need.
“Providing quality healthcare services for the community is the essential role of any hospital. It takes a team of qualified nurses, technicians and other employees working together with physicians to make a difference in the lives of people,” said Theriot. “I am looking forward to working with the talented, caring individuals at East Georgia Regional Medical Center.”
Theriot previously served as CEO for Chesterfield General Hospital in Cheraw, S.C. and as assistant CEO for DeKalb Regional Medical Center in Fort Payne, Ala. He began his healthcare career in 1994 as a Cardiac Rehab exercise specialist assisting patients with chronic cardiac conditions as well as post-CABG surgery.
“Paul is a skilled leader who brings a wealth of experience as he joins our hospital,” said Kenny Stone, Chair, East Georgia Regional Medical Center Board of Trustees. “He is an active individual who will bring energy and focus to his role as our CEO.”
He holds master’s degrees in Health Administration and Business Administration and a bachelor’s degree in exercise science from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. His professional affiliations include service on the hospital associations of Alabama and South Carolina and he is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives.
Theriot has been active in the communities where he has lived, including serving as a board member for the Etowah County Chapter of American Red Cross, Etowah County Junior Achievement, the Cheraw S.C. Chamber of Commerce and the Cheraw S.C. economic development council.
