Local Police Officers Participate in 9/11 Memorial Ruck at EGRMC
9/11/2019
September 11th signifies a day that most of us will never forget. And should never forget. The September 11 attacks (also referred to as 9/11) were a series of four coordinated terrorist attacks against the United States on the morning of September 11, 2001.
In remembrance of this day, Statesboro Police Officers Brice Scott and Patrick Webb participated in a “9/11 Memorial Ruck” at EGRMC on that morning. They started with a one mile ruck to the hospital, climbed 3960 stairs (total of 220 stories), then went on to finish the challenge after leaving the hospital with a 4 mile ruck. The significance of this pattern: 1 mile ruck represents the distance around the Pentagon, the 3960 stairs equal the 110 stories in each of the Twin Towers, and the 4 miles remember the 4th plane lost in Somerset County, Pennsylvania.
EGRMC employees held a Moment of Remembrance during that time, and lined the hallways to cheer on the officers as they made their way out of the hospital after finishing the 3960 stairs portion of the challenge. We salute Officers Webb and Scott for participating in this 9/11 Memorial Ruck here at our hospital and thank them for allowing us to be a part of this tribute.
